Charles M. Warfield, Jr.
Charles M. Warfield, Jr., a 38 year broadcast veteran, is Sr. Advisor to YMF Media LLC. YMF Media acquired the former assets of ICBC Broadcast Holdings, Inc. through a bankruptcy proceeding in 2012. Mr. Warfield, the former President and COO of ICBC was retained in that position for the new company until assuming his new position in late 2013.
In his broadcasting career, Charles has managed some of America’s most successful and recognized radio stations, including 12 years at Inner City Broadcasting Corporation as Vice President and General Manager of WBLS-FM and WLIB-AM. He also served as Vice President / General Manager of WRKS-FM, New York, which during his tenure was “the most listened to station in America”.
He has managed WDAS-AM and FM, Philadelphia and served as Sr. Vice President of Urban Regional Operations for Chancellor Media Corporation with oversight of KKBT-FM Los Angeles; WJLB-FM / WMXD-FM Detroit; WGCI-AM/FM and WVAZ-FM Chicago; WUSL-FM, WDAS-AM/FM Philadelphia and WEDR-FM Miami. Subsequently, he was Sr. Vice President / Regional Operations with responsibility for Chancellor’s 30 stations in Chicago, Cleveland, Philadelphia, Atlanta, Miami and Puerto Rico.
He is presently Joint Board Chair of the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) Board of Directors and served as Past-Chair of the Radio Executive Committee of the NAB. Charles is also a member of the NAB Educational Foundation board and the NAB Investment Committee.
The NAB honored him with the 2010 National Radio Award. In 2009 he was recognized by Radio Ink magazine as Radio Executive of the Year. Annually, he was honored as one of the 40 Most Powerful People in Radio.
He’s a graduate of Hampton University with a BS in Accounting. Born in Washington, DC, Charles and his wife reside in Newtown Square, PA, and have three children and three grandchildren.
